10 Tips to get the most from your training session

  • Find the right trainer. Discuss your goals, the trainer’s style and inquire about their credentials.
  • Set a goal with your training that is realistic and specific to your needs.
  • Do what works for you. Find with your trainer exercises that you enjoy and ones that you can complete outside of your training session.
  • Measure your process. Knowing your measurements and weight-loss is motivating and shows that your changes are for the better.
  • Set a weekly training schedule. Agree on what fits into your busy schedule and stick with that routine.
  • Change it up. If the workouts start to feel routine it’s time for more variety. Your trainer is paid to be creative.
  • Take your nutrition seriously. Your trainer is your key to healthy and realistic food choices.
  • Make sure you share details from an old injury so that modifications can be offered for you.
  • It’s okay to say no. If someone doesn’t feel right or is too difficult ask for an alternative exercise.
  • Be prepared to move on. It’s realistic to know that you will not be training your entire life. You can revisit to work on new moves so that you keep your workouts from becoming too routine and repetitive.
